Chapter Ten
the Mouse Queen(2)
"Shut up!" the Grand High Witch snapped at them.
They were so afraid of her that none of them dared to make another noise, who had the magic power to burn them to ashes.
The Grand High Witch did not say anything more, she closed her eyes and thought.
No one dared to speak a word and the room was quiet as could be. At that moment, a big mouse came in through a hole in the corner. Seeing a dozen of invaders in the house made him angry. Obviously it was his territory. He hissed and rushed to bite the nearest witch mouse. Some of the mice ran away, some stood still, some helped their attacked fellow. After a few rounds of biting, all the mice who had rushed up to help were defeated by the big mouse who then rushed to attack the Grand High Witch. The assistant and the secretary hurried to guard her.
They fought the big mouse at full speed, but still could not beat him. Then, the Grand High Witch shouted to her followers, "Stay away!" and they all moved backwards. The Grand High Witch pointed one of her paws at the big mouse and did magic. A small ball of smoke and fire flew from the paw to the enemy. The big mouse was burned by the ball, who still wanted to attack but hesitated.
The Grand High Witch did magic again and launched a bigger ball of smoke and fire. This time, the mouse was burned so badly that he squeaked. All the witch mice shouted, "Burn him, burn him to death!" The big mouse ran into the hole and escaped. "Hooray! Hooray!" the witch mice all cheered. From now on, the Grand High Witch became the Mouse Queen. One of them asked, "Your Majesty, why did you not burn him to death?" Compared with the others, the Mouse Queen was quite calm. She said, "I did want to kill him, but my magic is not as powerful as before." She spoke so peacefully that the mice felt a little bit relaxed. The Mouse Queen would not burn someone to ashes when she was angry like the Grand High Witch. They were still afraid of her and relied on her. "Your Majesty, how come we all became mice?" asked the assistant carefully. "There was mouse-maker in the soup." said the Mouse Queen and her being quiet was out of their expectation, which encouraged the assistant to continue to ask,
"Who did it?" "The boy hiding in the meeting room who had been turned into a mouse by us." she answered , still quiet. "It's him!" the witch mice were all surprised, and they all admired their wise leader, they also wondered how the little mouse could have done such a big thing. "How did he make it?" they looked to each other, being puzzled.
"It was all because we did not get rid of the two mice that were changed from the boys who smelled like dog droppings. They went back to the old oracle, the grandma, who helped her grandson." The Mouse Queen was so sure that her followers could not doubt her, they were so surprised that they all opened their mouths and could not speak, but their question was clear. |
