Lesson 7
Not worth a dime
一毛不值
一、心仪已久的DV 1、I've always dreamt of having a digital video camera. 2、I've selected a brand and model, but the price was far beyond what I could afford. 3、Whenever I go to the department store, I would always go to see if there are any price cuts or not. 4、In the meantime, I started to save money hard. 5、A few months later, I had saved almost two-third of the price. 二、抵不住诱惑 6、One day, I saw an ad of a DV camera on television. 7、It had the same function as the one I had selected but it was much smaller in size and it was easier to operate. 8、The most important thing is that its price is only one-third of the price of the one in the shop. 9、At first I didn't believe it, but for several days I kept on seeing this advertisement and at last I could not resist its lure. 10、I transferred the money and soon I received a package. 三、便宜没好货 11、Opening the mail package, I saw a sophisticated box from which I took out the DV camera. 12、Holding it up, I was a little disappointed for it weighed like a piece of cardboard. 13、It did have the function of shooting and filming described on television advertisement. 14、However, the quality of the film was bad and the pictures were unclear. 15、Its filming was restricted by both battery capacity and its memory constraint. 16、After filming for a few minutes, the camera would either have no memory left or would have no battery power. 四、美梦破灭 17、Since I bought the camera, I haven't really used it even once. 18,It still lies inside one of the drawers of the TV table. 19、I had spent one-third of my savings on buying this toy and another one-third while I was waiting for the package to come. 20、It seems owning that fancy camera was a dream far from coming true. |
