A True Friend

真正的朋友
A
1、Once I took Man Friday to hunt.
2、I shot a bird, it was wounded and ran on the ground.
3、Man Friday went to catch it.
4、While he was away, I loaded the gun again.
5、I did not want him to know how to load and fire the gun.

1、Man Friday helped me with the work in the house and the cornfields.
2、He was good at milking goats.
3、His English got better and better and we could talk about a lot of things.
4、I enjoyed teaching him and talking with him.

1、I told him about my adventures and my life in England and Brazil.
2、He told me about his country and people.
3、I taught him to read and write.
4、He gradually became a Christian and I trusted him completely.
5、I instructed him how to aim, load and fire a gun.
6、Soon he was quite good at using a gun.
7、I also gave him a knife.
8、I made a leather belt for him so that he could carry the knife.

1、One day the sky was very clear.
2、We got onto the top of the highest hill.
3、Man Friday suddenly shouted to me,
4、Look, master!My land! Look over there,that is my home!'
5、The sky was clear enough to see very far.
E
1、I looked to the north-west, I could see a long piece of land between the sea and the sky.
2、Man Friday was very happy and very excited, and he began to jump up and down.
3、I was both happy and a little bit worried.
4、Perhaps he wanted to leave me and go home.
5、Perhaps I could go to his country with him and then go back to England.
6、Would his people be friendly to me?

1、I took him to the canoe I had made many years before.
2、It was old and rotten.
3、I asked Man Friday if we could sail to his country in such a canoe.
4、His answer was a yes.
5、So we began to make a new canoe.
6、And soon the canoe was finished.
7、We put food and water in it and then I said to him,
8、'Now you can go home!'

1、When Man Friday realised that I let him go alone，he got down on his knees in front of me.
2、He told me that he did not want to leave me.
3、He wanted to be my servant all his life.
4、He said that we could go to his country together if I liked.
5、So we decided to build a bigger canoe so that we could sail to his country.
