Children's Savvy Sometimes, kids
can figure things out real easy, and what they say can leave grown-ups without
words. One hot summer
night, me and my five-year-old son were chilling in the backyard, feeling the
breeze. I saw him looking
up at the stars, so I thought, "Hey, time for a science lesson." I told him,
"You know, those stars up there? They're not really where they look like
they are." And he goes,
"Huh? Why not?" So, I tell him,
"Well, those stars are super far away, and it takes their light a really
long time to get to us here on Earth." "By the time
their light gets here," I said, "they've already moved from where
they were." "So, what we
see up there is actually what those stars looked like a long, long time
ago." I said,
"People here on Earth have to wait a bunch of years just to see where
those stars are right now." And he goes,
"Oh, I get it. So, we're just seeing their old footprints." 1. Sometimes, kids
