Send Money to Heaven The Qing Ming festival happens once a year in China. On this day, people visit the graveyard to clean the graves of their ancestors. Specially made paper or printed notes are burned as offerings beside the graves to show respect to the deceased. In the past, people in rural areas also burned paper-made animals for the deceased to enjoy in the afterlife. Nowadays, people's way of honoring their ancestors has changed a lot, including how they clean the graves. Instead of burning paper offerings, young people in cities prefer to leave flowers on the graves. Some people choose to burn paper replicas of cars, TVs, etc., hoping their ancestors can enjoy modern comforts in the afterlife. Maybe they should include a paper driver's license with the paper car just in case it's needed in heaven! |
