Lesson Seventeen

Shuanglong Cave in Jinhua

1.On April 14th, I visited Shuanglong Cave in Beishan in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province.

2.It is about five kilometers from Jinhua City to Luodian.After Luodian, we gradually went into the mountain.

3.The road winds up.The mountain is full of azalea, and both flowers and leaves are more energetic than potted Duou.

4.Tung trees are also in full bloom with one cluster here and one cluster there.

5.The sand on the mountain is pink, which seems to have never been seen elsewhere.

6.Pink mountains, various kinds of azalea, and new green, which is thick or weak, make the eyes bright.

7.The stream flows along the way.Along with the mountains, the stream is sometimes wide, sometimes narrow, sometimes slow, sometimes urgent, and the sound of the stream changes its tune from time to time.

8.About five kilometers into the mountain, we are at Shuanglong Cave, where the stream comes out.

9.Looking up at the entrance of the cave, the mountain is quite high, abrupt and gloomy, with great momentum.

10.The opening is like a bridge, and is very wide.When you walk in, it seems that you have arrived at a great hall, surrounded by stone walls and high stone roofs.The space is spacious enough that even a meeting for 1000 or 800 people can be held here.

11.The spring water flows out against the right side of the opening.

12.This is the external cave.

13.We look for the source of spring water in the external cave, and find that it originally flowed out from the pore under the rock wall on the left.

14.Though it is a pore, there is room for a boat to come in and out.

15.What kind of small boat?

16.The boat is just right for two people lying on their backs side by side, and there is no room for a third person.

17.Both ends of the boat are tied with ropes.The workers of the management office go into the internal cave, pull the rope inside, and the boat goes in.The workers in the external cave pull the rope at the other end, and the boat comes out.

18.I lay on my back alone in the boat with curiosity.I thought that there was no place left close to the bottom of the boat from the back of my head to the back of my shoulder, to my hips and to my heels.Then I said “OK”, and the boat moved slowly.

19.It’s dark, but I can feel the rocks on the left, right and top seem to be pressing towards me.

20.I also felt that if I raised my head a little bit, I would break my forehead and scratch my nose.

21.After the boat went about two or three zhang, I landed.

22.This is the internal cave.

23.There was so dark in the internal cave that nothing could be seen.

24.When the workers carried the gasoline lamp, only small area was lit up, and the rest was dark.I don’t know how broad it is.

25.The workers held up the gasoline lamp and pointed out the scenery in the cave one by one.

26.The first thing to see was the Twin Dragons, a yellow dragon and a green dragon, winding along the top of the cave.

27.I follow his directions, it’s a bit like.

28.The other stalactites and stalagmites, which were introduced, are mostly imagined as gods, animals and palaces according to their shapes.There are more than 40 items.

29.These stalactites and stalagmites, with their varied shapes and colors, are worth watching even if they are not compared to anything else.

30.After walking around the cave, I felt that it was much bigger inside than outside, about ten times the size of a house.

31.The spring flows slowly against the right, and the sound is soft.

32.The upper reach is in the dark cave.

33.I waited in line, lay on my back in the boat and got out of the hole.
