The first lesson Ms. Chen, our English teacher, wrote a sentence on the blackboard and said, "Please write this down." We began to write. I wrote the first word but then hesitated. "I don't think that's correct. But should I point out the mistake? Is it polite on the first day?" I wondered silently. "Why aren't you writing, Wang Han?" Ms. Chen asked me. I looked up at her. Our eyes met, and I felt nervous. But then I thought about what the sentence meant. I raised my hand. "Ms. Chen, there's an error," I spoke up. "This quote is from Confucius, not Mencius." "Well done, Wang Han," Ms. Chen praised me with a smile. "In fact, this is an important lesson for all of you as you begin junior high. Learning will become more challenging. It's crucial to think deeply about your studies. Please always remember this." That was a really valuable lesson! |
