Hagrid is taken to Azkaban by Cornelius Fudge, the Minister of Magic, after another student, Hermione, is petrified. Dumbledore is removed from his position as headmaster. Before being taken away, Hagrid cryptically advises Harry and Ron to "follow the spiders" for answers. The school is in chaos, and fear grips the students and staff. Determined to uncover the truth, Harry and Ron venture into the Forbidden Forest, where they encounter Aragog, a giant spider who reveals that Hagrid is innocent and that the real monster in the Chamber of Secrets is something the spiders fear greatly.
