Chapter 16: The Chamber of Secrets

Ginny Weasley is taken into the Chamber of Secrets, and a message left on the wall declares that she will die. With the school on lockdown and the situation dire, Harry and Ron discover the entrance to the chamber in Moaning Myrtle's bathroom. They enter the chamber and find an unconscious Ginny and Tom Riddle, who reveals himself to be a memory preserved in the diary. Riddle explains that he has been controlling Ginny to reopen the chamber and summon the basilisk. Harry confronts and defeats the basilisk with the help of Fawkes, Dumbledore's phoenix, and destroys the diary, vanquishing Riddle.
