The first lesson

Ms. Chen, our English teacher, wrote a sentence on the blackboard and said, "Please write this down." We began to write. I wrote the first word but then hesitated.

"I don't think that's correct. But should I point out the mistake? Is it polite on the first day?" I wondered silently.

"Why aren't you writing, Wang Han?" Ms. Chen asked me. I looked up at her. Our eyes met, and I felt nervous.

But then I thought about what the sentence meant. I raised my hand.

"Ms. Chen, there's an error," I spoke up. "This quote is from Confucius, not Mencius."

"Well done, Wang Han," Ms. Chen praised me with a smile. "In fact, this is an important lesson for all of you as you begin junior high. Learning will become more challenging. It's crucial to think deeply about your studies. Please always remember this."

That was a really valuable lesson!

第一节课

陈老师在黑板上写下一句话，并说：“请把这句话记下来。”我们开始写字。我写下了第一个词，然后停了下来。

“这不对。但是在第一节课上指出错误可以吗？这样做礼貌吗？”我心里犹豫不决。

“为什么你不写了，王涵？”陈老师问道。我抬头看着她。我们的目光相遇，我感到有些紧张。

但后来我想到这句话的意思。我举起了手。

“陈老师，这里有一个错误，”我说。“这句话是孔子说的，不是孟子。”

“做得好，王涵。”陈老师微笑着表扬我说道。“事实上，这是我给你们所有人的第一堂课。你们现在已经进入初中了，学习会变得更加困难。在学习中深思熟虑非常重要。请永远记住这一点。”

那真是一堂非常重要的课！
