Pigeon Surprise

We’re studying birds for Bird Week at school. Some lucky kids got penguins. But I have to write about... pigeons!

I’m watching pigeons in the park right now. They spend the whole morning pecking around and leaving droppings here and there. Pigeons seem kind of boring and dirty to me!

There’s a girl feeding them. Oh no! The birds are flying crazily towards her. They’re a bit scary!

I’m doing some research online. Did you know that pigeons can recognize themselves in mirrors? That’s pretty surprising! Maybe pigeons are smarter than I thought. I think I’ll go watch them again...

I’m back at the park now. Look! That pigeon is admiring itself in the water! Maybe I misjudged pigeons earlier.

Now I’m reading in the library. Wow! There are over 200 different kinds of pigeons. Some can fly thousands of kilometers without getting lost. They can also fly at speeds over 100 kilometers per hour. That’s as fast as my dad’s car!

Well, pigeons aren’t boring or scary after all. They are AMAZING—I just didn’t know enough about them!

鸽子惊喜

我们在学校的鸟类周正在学习鸟类。有些幸运的孩子研究了企鹅。但我却得写关于……鸽子的文章！

我现在正在公园里观察鸽子。它们整天都在啄食到处乱飞，到处留下粪便。鸽子看起来很无聊，而且很脏！

一个女孩正在喂它们。哦不！那些鸟飞向她，真有点吓人！

我在网上做了一些研究。你知道吗？鸽子能在镜子里认出自己来！这真的很惊讶！也许鸽子比我想象的要聪明。我觉得我应该再去看看它们……

我现在又回到公园了。哇！那只鸽子正在水里看自己！也许我之前对鸽子的看法有误。

现在我在图书馆读书。哇！有超过200种鸽子。有些鸽子能飞行几千公里而不迷路。它们还能以每小时超过100公里的速度飞行。那和我爸爸的车一样快！

好了，鸽子并不无聊或吓人。它们真的很棒——我只是对它们了解得不够多！
