Silent Love

Along a winding mountain road, a handsome young man strides quickly. Behind him follows an older man with a stern expression. This scene is from my favorite film, "Postmen in the Mountains." It’s a poignant story that delves into the deep, often unspoken bond between a father and his son.

For many years, the father dutifully served as the postman for this remote area. His job often kept him away from home, and as a result, the son rarely saw him. Now, the son is stepping into his father's shoes, taking over his position. The father accompanies him on his first day of work. During their journey, they begin to truly understand each other's hearts.

For the first time, the son carries his father across a frigid river, evoking the father's memories of carrying his son on his back. Silent tears stream down the father's face, a testament to their shared history and unspoken emotions.

This film portrays a traditional Chinese father. He is proud of his son's growth, yet he keeps his feelings deeply hidden. He doesn't show affection through hugs or kisses. His love is quiet but steadfast, like a mountain—always present and unyielding.
