Pigeon Surprise

We’re studying birds for Bird Week at school. Some lucky kids got penguins, but I have to write about pigeons!

I'm watching pigeons in the park right now. They just wander around all morning and leave droppings everywhere. Pigeons are BORING and DIRTY!

A girl is feeding them, and all the birds are flying madly towards her. They’re SCARY!

I’m doing some online research now. It turns out pigeons can recognize themselves in mirrors. How surprising! Are they really that clever? I’d better go watch them again.

I’m back at the park. Oh! That pigeon is looking at itself in the water! Maybe I was wrong about pigeons.

Now I’m reading in the library. Wow, there are over 200 kinds of pigeons. Some can fly several thousand kilometers without getting lost. They can also fly at speeds of over 100 km per hour. That’s as fast as my dad’s car!

Well, pigeons aren’t boring or scary. They are AMAZING—I just didn’t know enough about them!

我们学校在鸟类周学习鸟类。一些幸运的孩子分到了企鹅，而我却要写关于鸽子的报告！

我现在正在公园里观察鸽子。它们整个早上都在四处游荡，到处留下鸟粪。鸽子真是无聊又肮脏！

一个女孩正在喂鸽子，所有的鸟都疯狂地飞向她。它们真是吓人！

我现在正在做一些在线研究。原来鸽子能认出镜子里的自己。真令人惊讶！它们真的那么聪明吗？我最好再去看看。

我又回到公园了。哦！那只鸽子正在看水中的自己！也许我之前对鸽子的看法是错的。

现在我在图书馆里阅读。哇，原来有超过200种鸽子。有些鸽子可以飞行几千公里而不会迷路。它们还能以每小时超过100公里的速度飞行。这和我爸爸的车一样快！

嗯，鸽子并不是无聊或吓人的。它们太了不起了——只是我以前对它们了解不够！
