An Unusual Spring Festival It was my first Spring Festival in the UK, and I wanted to celebrate it by treating my British friend, Emilia, to a Chinese dinner. Emilia is a kind and thoughtful girl who sometimes cooks for me, so I wanted to return the favor. However, there was a big challenge: I had never cooked anything myself before! I often watched my Grandma cook, but I never tried it on my own. As it was midnight in China, it was time for dumplings there. Desperate for help, I called my family. With their guidance over the phone, I managed to become a chef in just one hour! I even managed to make some cucumber flowers. While Emilia decorated the dining room with balloons and lanterns, I finished preparing the last dish and placed it on the table. "This is the lion's head!" I announced proudly. Emilia looked shocked. "Are you joking? Isn't that against the law?" she asked, bewildered. I laughed and explained, "It's a pork meatball. My family always has it during the Spring Festival. Its round shape represents family reunions. Try it!" Emilia cut a piece with her knife and put it in her mouth. "I love it!" she exclaimed. The delicious aroma of the dishes and our laughter filled the room, making me feel as though I was back home. |
