A

1.There were two trees near a river.

2.A small sparrow was passing by that way.

3.She asked the first tree, "Dear tree, it is going to rain heavily.

4.So can I make a nest on your branches for me and my babies?"

5.The first tree didn't allow the sparrow and the sparrow flies away.

1.在一条河边有两棵树。  

2.一只小麻雀从那里经过。  

3.她问第一棵树：“亲爱的树，快要下大雨了，  

4.我可以在你的树枝上为我和我的孩子们筑巢吗？”  

5.第一棵树没有允许麻雀这样做，麻雀飞走了。

1.She went to another tree and asked the same question to that tree also.

2.Second tree agreed and allowed the sparrow to make a nest on its branches.

3.Another day, it rained heavily,

4.And the first tree broke from its roots and flows down with rains.

5.When the sparrow saw this,

6.She went and said to the first tree, "You got punished for rejecting me and build nest and your rude behavior."

1.她飞到另一棵树，向那棵树也问了同样的问题。  

2.第二棵树同意了，允许麻雀在它的树枝上筑巢。  

3.后来的一天，果然下了大雨，  

4.第一棵树的根被冲断了，随雨水漂走了。  

5.当麻雀看到这一幕时，  

6.她对第一棵树说：“你拒绝我筑巢，还那么无礼，现在受到了惩罚。”

C

1.But the tree smiled and replied softly,

2."Dear sparrow, I already knew that my roots were weak and were not able to standout in such heavy rains.”

3.I didn't want to risk your and your young ones lives.

4.Sorry that I didn't allowed you to make a nest on my branches."

5.Saying this, the tree flows away.

6.Sparrow felt sorry for that tree and for judging it without knowing the truth.

7.The moral of the story is: Don't judge a book by its cover.

1.但那棵树微笑着柔声回答：  

2.“亲爱的麻雀，我早就知道我的根很弱，无法承受如此猛烈的暴雨。  

3.我不想冒险让你和你的小宝宝们陷入危险。  

4.对不起，我没有允许你在我的树枝上筑巢。”  

5.说完，这棵树被冲走了。  

6.麻雀为自己不了解真相就对树做出判断而感到抱歉。  

7.这个故事的寓意是：不要以貌取人。
