中央电视台报道陈雷回国办学

陈雷校长从美国回来创办英语，聘请了两位美国教师，1995年在德州少年宫开班双语学前班和课外班，在华鲁电厂和建设华鲁电厂的山东电力二公司建立了分校，还为华鲁电厂的工程师培训英语，以便他们可以和帮助安装进口设备的外国专家交流。

中央电视台英文频道在黄金新闻时间做了近3分钟的报道，对外展示了中国的开放，也报道了陈雷英语先进的方法和效果。

从中国开始开放17年过去了，大量中国人认为懂英语越来越重要，即便是欠发达地区的人们。

我们的记者麻静最近采访了鲁北一家私立的英语学校，发回了这个报道。 

Announcer Cao Ri:

In the seventeen years which have passed, since china’s first opening up,knowledge of English is now considered increasingly essential by a large number of Chinese people, even by those in less developed areas.

Our reporter Ma Jing recently visited a privately-owned English language school In North Shandong Dezhou and filed this report. 

记者麻静：

在闭塞的德州这间简陋的教室里，孩子们被他们年青有活力的美国老师吸引。这些多数6岁以下的孩子一个月的时间已经学了几十个童谣和歌曲。在另外一个教室里，学习六个月的孩子已经理解了很多英语，并可以进行简单的会话。 

Reporter Ma Jing:

In this small shabby room in the isolated city of DeZhou, these children are fascinated  by their young energetic American teacher.

The kids mostly under six years old have already learned dozens of English rhymes and songs in their one month of English classes. 

In another classroom ,the children who have studied a little more than six months already understand a fare amount and are able to hold simple conversations. 

这些英语班是当地居民陈雷用自己的积蓄办起来的。他放弃了留在美国的机会，回到家乡小城促进那里的英语教育。

陈雷：

我们使用我们自己特殊的教材帮助孩子用英语思维，现在为止，这个方法我觉得很成功。

These classes were set up by just ordinary local citizen Chen lei with his own life savings. He gave up the chance of living in the United States and returned to his small hometown to try and promote knowledge of English there. 

Chen Lei: 

We use our special text books to help the children to think in english, and by now i think this method is very successful. 

记者麻静：

不用语法单词去填充孩子，陈雷使用一个新办法教孩子们，让孩子们在玩中学习。

Reporter Ma Jing:

Instead of stuffing the kids with grammar and endless vocabulary, Chen Lei is trying to introduce a new method of teaching English to young learners, one which kids can learn while playing. 

 学校的两名美国老师是他在美国散发和张贴广告招聘来的，和他配合的很好。

The two American Teachers at the school ,who he recruited from the US by flying and posting ads ,cooperate well with Chen Lei.

 美国教师道恩：

我喜欢这个工作，我喜欢孩子，使得工作对我来说是世界上最好的事情。

US teacher Dawn: 

I love this job, I love the children, and that makes the job the best thing in the world for me.

 记者麻静：

在这个欠发达的地区，孩子们并没有太多的机会了解外部的世界。掌握英语可以让他们更好的了解世界。开放近20年来,多数大量国人认为英语很重要，即便在德州这样欠发达地区也是如此。通过参加英语班，家长希望孩子们长大后更具有竞争力。这也促进了中国迈向现代化的进程。中央台记者麻静。

In this rather backward part of the country,there are not many chances for children to learn more about the outside world. With the acquisition of the English language, they will have a firm grip on the tool which will help them know the world better. 

Nearly twenty years after china’s opening up, knowledge of english is now considered essential by a large number of Chinese people, even by those in less developed areas such as here in De Zhou. By letting the children to take English Classes, parents hope it will give them a competitive edge when they grow up. And this may also equip China better on its march towards modernization.
