冰雪中的爱情
一、抗击雪灾的人们 1、The heaviest snow in a hundred years hit the south of the country. 2、It snowed continuously for half a month, blocking the railways, highways and runways in the airfields. 3、Ice wrapped and paralyzed the power grids and communication systems.
4、Many people were trapped in the railway stations, bus stations, airports, and even in cars, buses and trains. 5、The government and the people did everything they could to fight the snow disaster, so that no one was killed from cold and hunger. 6、Gradually, trapped people all went back home safely.
二、燕子的故事 7、Many moving stories happened during the process. 8、While fighting the snow, people forgot their animal friends until a moving story of a swallow couple prevailed on the internet. 9、The swallow couple had not eaten anything for several days because of the snow's covering everything. 10、They tried to fly into people's homes to warm themselves, but every house was closed tightly. 11、Finally, they got to a side of a balcony where wind could not reach and they could fly no more. 12、They jumped and flapped their wings to attract the attention of the people inside the house, who were busy with their own things. 13、The wife's body was frozen, and could not move any longer. 14、The husband came near and wrapped his wife with his wings, wanting to warm his wife with his own heat. 15、But because of his opened wings, the husband soon lost his heat. 16、The couple died in the cold and hunger, one wrapping the other.
三、感动的房主 17、Early next morning, the housemaster went to the balcony to check his flowers and saw a dead swallow outside the window pane. 18、Touching it, he found that there were two embracing each other. 19、Thinking of the hardship the snow had brought to the people, he was moved to tears. 20、He took them in to give them the warmness they could not feel any longer. 21、He filled a small cardboard box with some hay, lay the swallow couple inside, and then buried them in the garden of the community.
四、惦记我家的燕子 22、In my hometown in the countryside, a swallow family live in the roof of my house. 23、They come back from the south every spring to have babies. 24、Then, in autumn, when the babies have grown up, they fly to the south for winter. 25、I wonder if they will come back this spring as they used to.
