Lantern
I am a nightwalker. I often walk in the village during my dream. I always have a lantern with me when I sleepwalk. One night,I walked out of the house in dream. I came to the graveyard. The graveyard was very large. There were a lot of trees in the graveyard. As I was walking, I lost my way. I could not find my way home. Then a woman came out from behind a tree. She was wearing pyjamas and slippers. Her hair was very long. She said, “I am losing my way Can I use your lantern?” I said “I am losing my way, too. But Iet's find your home first.” She took the lantern. She went over to a grave. She put the lantern near the gravestone. She read the words on the stone. Then she said “It is not my home. The owner died 20 years ago.” I asked “How many years ago did you die？” She said “I died only a month ago.” I asked “You are very young. How did you die?” She said “I was a nightwalker. I walked into a pond and drowned.” I said “Let's find a new grave.” At last, we found a new grave. She put the lantern near the gravestone. She read the words. Then she said “I am home.” I said “But I can not find my way home.” She said “Let me help you.” We looked for my way home together. At last,we were at my home. I said “I am home. You can go now.” She said “But I can not go home without a lantern。” I said “You can take my lantern。” She said “Thank you！ Come to the graveyard and take your lantern tomorrow. See you!” I said “See you!” I entered the house. I went back to bed. I lay down beside my wife. The next morning My wife said “Our lantern is missing！” I said "Who would steal our lantern? My name is on the lantern. Our village's name is on the lantern,too." My wife was angry. She went to tell our neighbors. In a day's time,everyone in the village was aware. The next day,a man came to my home. He had our lantern in his hand. He said I live in a village nearby. One month ago,my wife drowned in a pond at night. Today I went to her grave. I found your lantern at the grave. |
