LESSON TWO

The Frog Prince

A

1.Once there was a princess.

2.She was very very beautiful.

3.Near the castle, there was a forest.

4.In the forest, there was an old lime tree.

5.Under the old tree, there was a well.

6.The royal children often play there on warm days.

7.One day, the princess was playing a golden ball near the well.

8.The ball fell into the well.

9.The well was very deep.

10.The princess could not see its bottom.

11.She began to cry.

12.She cried louder and louder.

B

1.Suddenly someone called out,

2."Why, Princess, what's wrong?

3.Why are you crying so sadly? "

4.The Princess saw an ugly frog in the water.

5.It was the frog who was talking with her.

 6.She said, "I am crying because my golden ball has fallen into the well."

7.The frog said, "Don't cry any more. I can help you.

8.What will you give me if I fetch the ball for you?"

9.She answered, "Anything you like, dear frog."

 10.The frog said, "I want to be your friend,sit by you at the dinning table, and sleep in your little bed.

 11.If you promise, I will dive into the well and get the ball for you."

 12.The princess said. "Very well,I will promise anything you like if you will only bring back my ball."

13.So the frog got deep into the water.

14.After a while he came out with the ball.

15.The princess was very glad.

16.She picked up the ball and ran away.

C

1.The next day,the princess was  sitting at the dinning table.

2.Someone shouted at the door, "Princess,let me in."

3.The princess went to open the door.

4.She saw the frog at the steps.

5.She slammed the door and went back to the table.

6.The king asked her, "Who is it? Why are you afraid, my child?"

 7.The princess had to tell his father what had happened the day before.

8.The king said to her daughter,

9."You must not break your promise. Go and let him in."

10.The princess had to go and open the door.

11.The frog hopped in and had meal  with the princess.

12.The princess had no mood to eat.

13.But the frog had a good meal.

D

1.After the meal, the frog wanted to sleep.

2.He asked the princess to put him in her bed.

3.The princess was annoyed.

4.She said, "You nasty and ugly frog,

5.you can go to bed yourself if you like."

6.She threw the frog against the wall.

7.But when he fell to the ground,

8.the frog became a handsome prince.

9.He had been bewitched by a wicked witch.

10.Only the princess could release him from the well.

 11.According the king's wishes, the princess and the prince became good playmates.

12.The next day, a carriage with eight white horses came.

13.The carriage carried them to the prince's kingdom.
