Chapter Three
Grandma Fell Sick
we did not have a house keeper.
Grandma had to take care of me and do all the housework. After all, she was elderly, as we were excited about our plan to go around the world to wipe out the witches, she became ill. At the beginning, she did not want to see a doctor. Later she got sicker and sicker. she had a bad fever, she coughed, panted and spat. I cried and said to her, "see a doctor, grandma, I don't want you to die! Who would take care of me if you die?
At last, she called the doctor. Grandma asked me to hide on the top of a big cabinet standing near the bed, where I would be able to watch the doctor.
I stayed on the top of the cabinet with enough to eat and drink.
I had a small quilt under which I could sleep. But I could not make a noise. And so I was bored to stay. Every now and then I went to the edge of the top to see my grandma and looked around the room. Mrs. Sprins was cleaning the rooms, she felt the devices which Grandma made for me were odd. I was so bored that I decided to go to the yard to take a breath of fresh air. I watched the nurse and Mrs. Sprins, as I tried to find a chance to slip out of the house.
At last ,I had a chance. The nurse had gone to the bathroom and Mrs. Sprins had gone out with a plastic bag of rubbish.
I hurried off the cabinet down a thin rope prepared by Grandma. I got to the door and pressed the wooden button which opened the door. I ran and got under the fence in the garden. Just then Mrs. Sprins came back to the door from the rubbish bin, she murmured, “strange, who opened the door?" She went in and closed the door. |
