Chapter Eight
Bruno did not want to be a mouse any longer(2)
As they had planned,
Mr. Jackins was sitting on the sofa with Bruno in his hands
while Mrs. Jackins took Topsy in her arms. They were watching what would happen. As soon as he saw Topsy, Bruno yelled to her, "I don't want Topsy,I don't want her to stay at home！" Seeing Bruno yelling, Topsy did not have any intentions to attack（her） him, she escaped and hid instead. The fact was that Bruno often bullied Topsy and often chased her in the past. Now Topsy could hear that the mouse was Bruno, so she still was afraid of him. Bruno took a toothpick in his hand and went to chase Topsy. So there was a strange vision of a mouse chasing a cat. Mr.and Mrs.Jackins did not worry that Bruno would be eaten by Topsy any longer, instead, they were happy to see Bruno chasing Topsy. Seeing that he could bully Topsy as usual, Bruno did not insist to drive her away.
Bruno did not always Bully Topsy, they sometimes played together. Mr. and Mrs. Jackins often discussed how to turn Bruno back into a boy while he was not with them.
But whenever they talked about it with Bruno, he yelled, "I don't want to be a boy again .I don't want to go to school. I don't want to do homework.
I hate the school, I hate the teachers. I hate to play with the schoolmates. I only want to stay at home , eat and play as I like." Meanwhile, Mr. Jackins looked up materials about mice. He was astonished to find that a mouse only has a two year life span. He did not tell his wife about it or she would be sad and cry. Mr. Jackins felt it was difficult to persuade his son, then Bruno decided on his own he wanted to turn back into a boy.
While he was watching TV, he saw an episode of program named
The program attracted Bruno's attention，
from which Bruno learned that a mouse could live for about only two years. After watching the program, Bruno said to his parents, "you must turn me back into a boy in two years' time, or I will die. I don't want to die so young." Mr. and Mrs. Jackins were both happy and worried. They were happy that their son had finally agreed to turn back into a boy. They were worried that they did not know how to turn their son back into a boy. Still they said happily to Bruno, "That's great! son, You are willing to be a boy at last. We will try our best to turn you into a boy again as soon as possible."
Bruno said, Not too soon, it's ok as long as you turn me back into a boy in two years' time.
Now Mr. Jackins found a good reason why Bruno should become a boy as soon as possible. He said to him, "Honey, a year later, you will become an old man older than us instead of a boy."
Bruno yelled, " I don't want to be an old man, turn me back into a boy as soon as possible."
then he went on eating. Mr. Jackins was very glad to hear what Bruno had said and now he thought of a person, my Grandma. |
