LESSON 5 Romeo and Juliet Plays can be funny or sad.Funny plays can make you laugh so hard you cry, while sad ones can make you feel upset."Romeo and Juliet," written by the famous playwright William Shakespeare, is one of the most famous sad stories. Romeo and Juliet were from two families that really didn't like each other. They met at a fancy party and immediately fell in love. Since their families didn't approve of their love, they secretly got married in a church. Later, Romeo was kicked out of the city for accidentally causing someone's death. Juliet's family made her marry someone else. To avoid this marriage, Juliet asked the priest who married them for help. He made a plan and sent a letter to Romeo to tell him about it. The priest gave Juliet a special sleeping potion that made her seem like she was dead. They put Juliet's body in a tomb. Romeo came back to the city not knowing about the priest's plan. Not knowing that Juliet was just sleeping, he went to the tomb to see her. When he saw her lying there, he was so sad that he took some poison. Just after he took it, Juliet woke up and found Romeo next to her. They found out what happened, but it was too late. Seeing Romeo dead, Juliet killed herself with a sword.
