Shadows, How do we make them?
“How do we make Shadows, Diggy?” asks Smartycat. “Shadows are the shapes we make when we stand in front of the light,” says Diggy the dinosaur. “Have a look at your shadows. They are the same shape as you are. You can play with your shadow by moving about in front of the light. See the different shadows you've made? ”asks Diggy. Shadows made by sunlight change as the sun moves in the sky. When the sun is low in the sky, our shadows are long. When it's high in the sky, our shadows are short. And when the sun is right above us, our shadows hide away underneath us. “Ha ha, look!We can jump up and down on our shadows,” laughs Smartycat. “You can also change the size of your shadow by moving closer or further away from the light,”says Diggy. As the light gets closer and closer, our shadows get bigger and bigger and bigger...Roar! And when the light gets further and further away, our shadows get smaller. “The light goes around us but it doesn't go through us. And that's how our shadows are made, Smartycat!” “Hey, Smartycat! ”says Diggy. “What did one shadow say to the other shadow at bedtime?” “I don't know,”says SmartyCat. “what?” Turn off the lamp. I'm scared of the light!
