A Special Spring
Festival
It was my first Spring
Festival in the UK, and I wanted to make it special for my British friend,
Emilia. Emilia is a nice girl who sometimes cooks for me, so I wanted to treat
her to a Chinese dinner. But there was one
problem: I had never cooked before! I often watched my Grandma cook, but I
never tried it myself. It was midnight in China, and my family was making
dumplings. So, I called them for help. With their guidance over the phone, I
became a chef in just one hour! I even made some cucumber flowers. While Emilia hung
balloons and lanterns in the dining room, I finished the last dish and put it
on the table. "This is the lion's head!" I announced proudly. Emilia looked shocked.
"Are you joking? Isn't that against the law?" she asked. I laughed. "It's a
pork meatball. My family always has it at the Spring Festival. Its round shape
stands for family reunions. Try it!" Emilia cut a piece with
her knife and put it in her mouth. "I love it!" she said. The smell
of the dishes and our laughter filled the room. I felt like I was back home. |
