2.2 Description of Simple Harmonic Motion
Amplitude, Period, and Frequency: - **Amplitude (A):** The maximum
displacement of the object from its equilibrium position. T = 2π/ω - **Frequency (f):** The number of
oscillations per unit time. It is the reciprocal of the period: f = 1/T Phase and Phase Difference: - **Phase (φ):** Describes the position of
the oscillating object within its cycle at a specific point in time. Example Problem:
An object undergoing SHM has a period of 2
seconds. What is its angular frequency? Solution:
The angular frequency ω is given by: ω = 2π/T = π rad/s |
