The Frightened Lion

One night, Leo the Lion is getting ready for bed.

He arranges his favorite stuffed animals and fluffs up his pillows just right.

He turns on his twinkling star night light, and then he hears a noise.

Tap, tap.

"What's that noise?" he whispers.

Tap, tap.

That noise is coming from outside the window.

He slides out of the bed.

He grabs his trusty flashlight and tiptoes towards the window.

Tap, tap, tap, tap.

"It's a monster!" he thinks.

He grabs his baseball bat and holds it like a shield for protection.

He hears the noise again.

Tap, tap, tap, tap.

Leo's heart races.

The monster is getting closer.

It sounds like the biggest, scariest monster ever.

Tap, tap, tap, tap.

Leo squeals.

He dashes away from the window and dives under the bed.

He pulls his blanket over his head.

He grips his flashlight tightly in his paws.

And tap Tap.

A fluffy bunny hops onto the window sill.

The bunny has a basket full of glowing fireflies.

She wiggles her ears and smiles.

Tap, tap, tap, tap.

"Hello, Leo! Are you there?" says the bunny.

She peeks through the window and sees Leo hiding under the bed.

Leo is wrapped in a blanket, holding a baseball bat like a sword and a flashlight.

He looks silly, and truthfully, he feels silly too.

"I wanted to take you to see the fireflies," says the bunny. "But you seem busy. I'll come back another time. Bye!"

The bunny hops down and skips away, her basket glowing brightly.

Moral: Sometimes our imagination makes things scarier than they actually are.
