LESSON THIRTEEN The Golden Touch A 1.Midas was a king. 2.Midas lived in Greece. 3.Midas was very greedy. 4.He loved gold very very much. 5.One day, Midas asked God for more gold. 6.God decided to punish Midas. 7.God said to Midas "in the morning,everything you touch will become gold!" 8.Midas was very glad. 9.He said to himself "I shall be the richest man in the world!" B 1.Midas got up early the next morning. 2.He touched his bed. 3.His bed turned into gold. 4.He began to dress. 5.His clothes became gold. 6.Midas was very delighted. 7.He went into his garden. 8.It was a fine day. 9.The sky was clear. 10.The sun was bright. 11.The flowers were lovely. 12.Midas picked a flower. 13.The flower became gold. 14.Midas picked another flower. 15.The same thing happened. 16.Midas touched some flowers. 17.They all became gold. C 1.Midas went to the dining hall. 2.He wanted to have breakfast. 3.He took a cup of milk. 4.The milk became gold. 5.He took a piece of bread. 6.The bread became gold. 7.Midas was not happy. 8.He could not drink gold. 9.He could not eat gold. 10.He was hungry. 11.Midas did not have breakfast. 12.He went to the garden again. 13.His daughter was there. 14.His daughter was very pretty. 15.She ran to Midas. 16.Midas loved his daughter very much. 17.He hugged his daughter. 18.His daughter became a golden statue. D 1.Midas was very unhappy. 2.He cried. 3.He went to his palace. 4.He begged God again and again. 5.He begged God to give back his daughter. 6.God did not listen. 7.Then he said to God "Take away all my gold ! 8.Give back my daughter!" 9.God said "Go, wash your hands in the river!" 10."The water will wash away the golden touch." 11.The river was near Midas's garden. 12.Midas went to the river. 13.He washed his hands. 14.He ran to the garden. 15.He touched the golden statue of his daughter. 16.He kissed the golden statue. 17.The statue changed back into his pretty daughter. |
