LESSON TWENTY-ONE The Silent Follower (Part One)
A 1.It was Sunday afternoon. 2.Johnson parked his car. 3.He and his wife went into a supermarket. 4.They wandered around for a while. 5.Johnson suddenly whispered to his wife, 6."Darling, look at the man at the door. 7.He has been following us for a whole day! 8.I saw him near our home this morning. 9.I saw him in the park. 10.I saw him at the gate of the cinema this afternoon." 11.His wife turned and saw the man. 12.The man noticed Johnson's wife looking at him. 13.He turned to avoid their looking at each other. 14.She said, "He is doing nothing anyway. 15.Leave him alone!" 16.His wife bought a bottle of shampoo, a pack of soap and some toilet paper. 17.She made payment. 18.They walked to the door. 19.The man disappeared. B 1.They walked to an Italian restaurant nearby. 2.They got into the restaurant and sat at a table. 3.The table was next to a window. 4.Johnson and his wife were reading the menu. 5.A waitress was standing beside the table. 6.She was waiting for their order. 7.They ordered a pizza and some soup. 8.After a while, the food was served. 9.They were about to have the meal. 10.Then Johnson noticed a man standing outside the window. 11.The man was facing the street. 12.Johnson could not see his face. 13.He could only see his back. 14.But Johnson was sure it was the man following them. C 1.Johnson was very angry. 2.He had no mood to eat. 3.He walked out of the restaurant. 4.He rushed to the man and yelled, "Who are you? 5.Why are you following me? " 6.The man said nothing. 7.He ran away. 8.Johnson went back to the table. 9.He sat down to eat the food. 10.After a while, he looked out of the window. 11.He saw the man standing on the other side of the street. 12.He wanted to go out again. 13.His wife said, "Darling , leave him alone. 14.He is doing nothing anyway." D 1.After dinner, it was dark outside. 2.They went to the car and drove home. 3.Johnson was in bad mood. 4.He said nothing. 5.They watched TV for a while. 6.Then they went upstairs for night. 7.Johnson took a bath and wanted to go to bed. 8.He went to close the curtain of the bedroom. 9.Through the window, he saw the man again. 10.He was standing in the street not far from his house. 11.Johnson did not tell his wife. 12.His wife soon went to sleep. 13.He was sleepless. 14.He could not drive the man out of his mind. 15.At midnight, he got up quietly. 16.He opened the curtain a little bit. 17.He looked outside. 18.To his horror, the man was still standing there. 19.He got up several times to look at the man. 20.He saw the man standing there every time.
沉默的追随者(上) A 1. 星期天的下午. 2. 约翰逊把他的车停好. 3. 他和妻子进入了一家超市. 4. 他们在里面转了一会儿. 5. 约翰逊突然悄悄地对妻子说, 6. 亲爱的看门口那个男人. 7. 他一直跟着我们一整天啦. 8. 今天早晨在我们家附近我看见了他. 9. 在公园里我看到他. 10. 今天下午在电影院门口我看到他. 11. 他妻子转过身看见了那个人. 12. 那个人注意到约翰逊的妻子在看他. 13. 他转过身去避免两个人互相对视. 14. 他说反正他什么也没干. 15. 别管他. 16. 他妻子买了一瓶洗发水,一包肥皂还有一些手纸. 17. 他付了钱. 18. 他们向门口走去. 19. 那人不见了.
B 1.他们走着去了附近的一家意大利餐厅. 2.在一张桌子前坐下. 3.桌子靠着窗户. 4.约翰逊和妻子在读菜单. 5.一个女服务员站在了桌子旁边. 6.她在等着他们订餐. 7.他们要了一些披萨和一些汤. 8.过了一会食物端了上来. 9.他们正要用餐. 10.这时约翰逊注意到窗户外面站了一个人. 11.这个人面向街道. 12.约翰逊看不到他的脸. 13.他只能看到他的后背. 14.但是约翰逊肯定他就是跟着的他的那个人.
C 1. 约翰逊很生气. 2. 他没有心情去吃饭. 3. 他走出了餐馆. 4. 他冲向那个人叫到. 5. 你是谁?为什么一直跟着我. 6. 那个男人什么都没说. 7. 他跑开了. 8. 约翰逊回到桌子前. 9. 他坐下来用餐. 10. 过了一会他向窗外望去. 11. 他看到那个人站到街道的另一边. 12. 他又想出去. 13. 他的妻子说别管他. 14. 反正他什么也没做.
D 1. 吃完晚饭天黑了. 2. 他们来到汽车处开车回家了. 3. 约翰逊的心情很坏. 4. 他什么也没说. 5. 他们看了一会电视. 6. 然后他们上楼睡觉. 7. 约翰逊洗了个澡要上床. 8. 他去拉卧室里的窗帘. 9. 透过窗户他又看到了那个人. 10. 他站到街道上离他的房子不远. 11. 约翰逊没有告诉他的妻子. 12. 他的妻子很快就睡着啦. 13. 他可是睡不着. 14. 他没有办法把那个人从他的脑海里赶走. 15. 半夜他悄悄地起来. 16. 他伸开了一点窗帘. 17. 他向外面望去. 18. 令他恐怖的是那个人仍然站在那里. 19. 他起来好几次看那个人. 20. 每一次他都看见那个人站在那.
LESSON TWENTY-TWO The Silent Follower (Part 2)
A 1.At dawn, he was asleep for a while. 2.It was Monday. 3.After breakfast , Johnson drove to his work. 4.He worked in a lawyer's office. 5.His office was in a tall building down town. 6.He was busy all morning. 7.At lunch time, he went to a restaurant nearby. 8.He sat at a table next to a window. 9.Then he saw the man standing outside the window. 10.He was facing the street. 11.Johnson could not see his face. 12.He could only see his back. 13.He walked out of the restaurant. 14.The man saw Johnson and ran away. 15.Johnson chased him. 16.The man ran very fast. 17.Johnson could not catch up with him. 18.He had to go back to the restaurant. 19.He made his order and waited for his food. 20.Then he saw the man standing on the other side of the street. B 1.Johnson did not go out this time. 2.He called police. 3.But before the police arrived, the man ran away. 4.Johnson explained to the policemen. 5.The policemen left unhappily. 6.Johnson's food was served. 7.He was about to eat. 8.Then he saw the man standing outside the window again. 9.He called the police again. 10.But before the police arrived again, the man ran away again. 11.The policemen was very annoyed. 12.They took Johnson to the police station. 13.He had to stay at the police station for a whole afternoon. 14.He had to explain again and again. 15.But the police did not listen to him. 16.He was told not to annoy the police again. C 1.Johnson went home. 2.He did not tell his wife what had happened. 3.At night, Johnson went to close the curtain. 4.He saw the man standing in the street again. 5.He was sleepless. 6.He could not drive the man out of his mind. 7.He got up several times to look at the man. 8.He saw him every time. 9.At dawn, the man was still there. 10.Johnson determined to catch the man. 11.He got up and put on a pair of sport shoes. 12.He went out of the house and rushed to the man. 13.The man saw Johnson and ran away. D 1.Johnson chased him. 2.When Johnson ran fast, the man ran fast. 3.When Johnson ran slowly, the man ran slowly. 4.The man ran as fast as Johnson. 5.So he kept a certain distance from Johnson. 6.Johnson followed the man up a hill. 7.The man ran to a cliff. 8.Johnson was very happy. 9.He knew that the man had no way to run. 10.The man had to stop at the edge of the cliff. 11.Johnson was very close to the man. 12.Johnson stopped, too. 13.He asked, "Who are you? 14.Why do you always follow me?" 15.The man said nothing. 16.He jumped off the cliff. 17.Johnson went to the edge of the cliff. 18.He looked down. 19.The cliff was very high. 20.He knew the man must die. 21.He felt released. 22.He got rid of the man at last. 23.He turned around to leave. 24.Suddenly he saw the man just before him. 25.Johnson was so scared that he moved back. 26.He fell off the cliff. 27.Days later, police found his corpse at the hillside.

A 1.天快亮的时候,他睡了一小会儿。 2.星期一到了。 3.吃完早餐、约翰逊开车去上班。 4.他在一家律师事务所工作。 5.他的办公室在市中心一座高楼里。 6.一上午他都很忙 7.午饭的时侯、他去附近的一家餐馆。 8.他在一个靠窗的桌子前坐下。 9.这时,他看见那个人站在窗子的外面 10.他面向街道。 11.约翰逊看不见他的脸。 12.他只能看见他的后背 13.他走出了餐馆 14.那人看见约翰逊就跑掉了。 15.约翰逊追他。 16.那人跑得很快。 17.约翰逊没有办法赶上那个人 18.他只好回到餐馆 19.他订了餐,在等着食物 20.这时,他看见那个人站在街的另一边。 B 1.约翰逊这次没有出去。 2.他打电话叫了警察 3.但是警察到来之前、那个人就跑掉了。 4.约翰逊同警察解释。 5.警察很不高兴地离开了。 6.约翰逊的食物端了上来 7.他正要吃 8.这时,他看见那个人又站在了窗外。 9.他又打电话叫了警察 10.但是警察再次到来之前,那个人又逃跑了。 11.警察非常不高兴 12.他们把约翰逊带到了警察局。 13.他不得不在警察局呆了整整一个下午。 14.他一遍又一遍的解释。 15.但警察不听他的话 16.他告知不要再骚扰警察。 C 1.约翰逊回家了。 2.他没有告诉他的妻子发生的事情 3.晚上,约翰逊去关窗帘。 4.他看到那个人又站在街道上了 5.他无法入睡 6.他没有办法把那个人从脑海中赶跑 7.他起来好几次看那个人 8.他每次都能看到他 9.天亮的时候、那人仍然在那里 10.约翰逊决心要抓住那个人。 11.他起了床、穿上一双运动鞋。 12.他出了房门、像那个人冲出去 13.那个人看见约翰逊就跑开了。 D 1.约翰逊追他。 2.约翰逊跑得快,那个人就跑得快。 3.约翰逊跑得慢、那个人就跑的慢。 4.那个人同约翰逊一样快。 5.所以他同约翰逊保持一定的距离。 6.约翰逊随着那个人上了一座小山。 7.那个人向悬崖跑去 8.约翰逊很高兴。 9.他知道,那个人无路可逃了。 10.那个人不得不在悬崖边上停了下来。 11.约翰逊离这那个人很近了 12.约翰逊也站住了 13.他问,“你是谁? 14.为什么总是跟着我 15.那人没说话 16.他跳下了悬崖 17.约翰逊来到悬崖边 18.他向下看了看 19.悬崖很高。 20.他知道那个人一定死了 21.他感觉到解脱了 22.他终于摆脱了那个人。 23.他转过身来要离开 24.突然,他看见那个人就站在他的面前 25.约翰逊非常害怕,他向后一挪 26.他从悬崖上摔下来了。 27.几天后,警察在山脚下发现了他的尸体 |
